“So they need a breath of fresh air and getting a 20-year-old in gives you that, that longevity.

“You can really work with him and get to grips and improve him as well.

“For the fee they’re looking at, you could have a fantastic player who in two or three years time is worth four times that. You’ve got to look for that.“

The Verdict: Celtic should look to sign up Buchanan to bolster left-back depth

Important senior roles have incurred new blood at Celtic in recent times, namely the managerial and chief executive positions in the form of Postecoglou and communications expert Dominic McKay.

The Celts finally look to have filled the most important on-pitch role, with McGregor getting the captaincy for the upcoming season.

Kicking off the new era at Parkhead in earnest, the 28-year-old has been tasked with the mammoth task of filling Brown’s boots as he becomes Celtic’s 22nd captain [celticfc.com].

Deputising as skipper on a number of occasions last season [Daily Record], the Scotland international shouldered added responsibility in a difficult campaign for the Hoops.

As the club’s new full-time captain, he will be desperate to repay the faith shown in him by his manager, who added: “He knows what it takes to be a successful Celtic player, and he knows what it means to captain this club, and I’m delighted that he will be wearing the armband and leading the squad going forward.” [celticfc.com].

McGregor was always the most likely to be given the opportunity to take the armband of his boyhood club due to his leadership qualities – Postecoglou has said that he “leads by example, both on and off the park” [celticfc.com].

Coming through the Lennoxtown ranks, the Scot has went on to rack up an incredible 14-trophy haul at the heart of the Celtic midfield [Transfermarkt]. Within that timeframe, he has registered 116 goal contributions in 325 appearances for the Hoops, with 53 goals and 63 assists [Transfermarkt].

Once labelled “brilliant” by former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers [Glasgow Times], his ability to consistently perform to a high standard has seen McGregor retain a reputation as one of the best players in the country, as evidenced by winning 34 caps for Scotland.

Now one of the elder statesmen within a youthful Celtic team, the Parkhead faithful will be desperate to see their hero leading the way on the pitch and justifying why Postecoglou is “delighted” to have him as the club captain going into the new season.

And to complete a great day for Royals, their nearest challengers, Warwickshire Bears, went down to a 62-run defeat against Glamorgan Dragons.But, with the Dragons having two games in hand, it’s far too early for Royals to relax.Darren Lehmann won the toss for the visitors, and, having elected to bat would have been alarmed to see his side slide to 65-4, with Andy Bichel taking 3-30 for the hosts. But the captain (56) led by example, as first with Fellows (28) and then with Lumb (32), he rebuilt the Phoenix innings, leading his side to a respectable 207-8.In reply the Royals lost Peters and the in-form Solanki for just 17 before Hick and Smith threatened to dominate in a partnership of 68.But Hick fell to the part-time off-spin of McGrath and Leatherdale was stumped off Lehmann as the Phoenix claimed back the initiative. However, Ben Smith (92 not out) is in fine form, and in a partnership of 109 with Gareth Batty (54 not out) he timed the acceleration beautifully and saw his side to victory.In the other key match towards the top of the table, Warwickshire Bears entertained Glamorgan Dragons at Edgbaston.The Dragons benefited from half-century contributions from Ian Thomas, Matthew Maynard and Adrian Dale as they set the hosts a daunting target of 301 to win. Only Walker, with 40, resisted, but when he fell to Crowe to leave the score on 110-7, the writing was on the wall despite a spirited stand of 62 for the eighth wicket between Geraint Jones (27) and James Golding (47 not out).The Foxes remain safe, and in with an outside chance of winning the league, but the Spitfires form has nose-dived of late and relegation is now a real possibility for them.Normal service has been resumed in Bristol as the former one-day kings, Gloucestershire Gladiators, re-enforced the view that last year’s disappointing showing was just an aberration. They rushed to victory at Cheltenham in just the 18th over of their reply as Sussex Sharks sunk without trace.All the Gladiators bowlers contributed to the Sharks demise, with Smith, Harvey and Averis sharing the top order with two wickets each before Martyn Ball mopped up the tail with 4-15.A target of 117 was unlikely to trouble the team that remain top of the second division and so it proved. Ian Harvey capped a fine all-round performance in striking a brisk from 68 not out from just 43 balls. By contrast the Sharks Mark Robinson followed his first ball duck by conceding 43 runs from three overs.But Surrey Lions kept up the pressure on the leaders with victory over Essex Eagles at Guildford. Jason Ratcliffe then provided the finishing touches with 53 from just 31 balls towards the end.The Eagles started well in response, scoring at six an over, but with Robinson (26) departing with the score at 42 and Jefferson (23) at 86 the innings ran into trouble.Mark Pettini (51) and Andy Flower (50) added 99 for the fifth wicket, but when they both fell to Ratcliffe the run-rate proved far too testing and the hosts secured a 73-run win.Gloucestershire Gladiators have an eight-point lead in the second division table, but the Lions have a couple of games in hand. It promises to be a fascinating second half of the season in both divisions.

O gerente de marketing da Kanxa, Sergio Grer, não escondeu que o receio de associar a marca à imagem do Boa Esporte, que abriu as portas para o Bruno, fez a fornecedora afastar-se do clube mineiro. Em entrevista ao LANCE!, o representante da empresa questionou o Boa por não avisar os seus antigos apoiadores do acerto com o goleiro, e apontou que a permanência da Kanxa seria um “marketing negativo”.

– Em momento algum, eles conversaram com nenhum dos parceiros antes do acerto. Na verdade, o que aconteceu foi um “marketing negativo”. Não é meramente a ressocialização de um atleta à sociedade, mas o impacto que a contratação do Bruno para o clube.

Grer detalhou o motivo da demora para o clube se pronunciar. A nota oficial da Kanxa aconteceu na segunda-feira, três dias depois da confirmação do Boa Esporte:

– Soubemos da notícia na noite de sexta pela imprensa. Precisávamos conversar com o Boa para confirmar o acerto e nos reunirmos, o que só conseguimos ontem (segunda-feira). Por isto, a Kanxa demorou a dar uma resposta. Ao confirmarmos que o Boa acertou com o Bruno, automaticamente emitimos uma nota para romper contrato.

O gerente de marketing ainda apontou que a empresa foi alvo de críticas aos olhos do público:

– Lógico, associaram todo mundo. A Kanxa somente fornece material esportivo, mas pela postura da diretoria do Boa, ficou meio complicado.

Além da Kanxa, outros quatro patrocinadores se afastaram do Boa devido ao anúncio de Bruno: o patrocinador máster Góis & Silva, a Cardiocenter, a Magsul e a Nutrends Nutrition. O goleiro, que assinou por dois anos, foi apresentado na manhã desta terça-feira.

O Boa Esporte será o primeiro clube de Bruno após deixar a cadeia, onde ficou por sete anos. O jogador de 32 anos saiu no dia 24 de fevereiro graças a um habeas corpus concedido pelo STF, e aguardará em liberdade o resultado do recurso da condenação da pena de 22 anos e três meses de prisão por sequestro, morte e ocultação de cadáver de Eliza Samudio.
