ظل هاري كين شديد الصمت بشأن مستقبله مع توتنهام، بعدما ارتبط بخطوة الرحيل نهاية الموسم الماضي.

كان مهاجم توتنهام حريصًا على الانتقال الصيف الماضي وسط شائعات قوية عن اهتمام مانشستر سيتي، لكن الصفقة فشلت وعانى كين بعد ذلك من بداية بطيئة في الموسم الحالي قبل أن يستعيد مستواه.

وقال هاري كين في تصريحات نشرتها صحيفة “ستاندرد” الإنجليزية: “من الواضح أن تركيزي الأساسي هو مجرد إنهاء الموسم أولًا وقبل كل شيء”.

وأضاف: “ما زلنا في المنافسة على المراكز الأربعة الأولى، لا أستطيع التحكم فيما سيحدث في المستقبل، إنه عام حافل للجميع وليس أنا فقط، يتعلق الأمر بالتحكم في ما يمكنني التحكم فيه وفعل ما بوسعي على أرض الملعب”.

بعد الضغط عليه بشأن ما إذا كان قد تحدث مع أنطونيو كونتي حول مستقبله، قال كين: “لن أخوض في مناقشة شخصية بيني وبين المدرب”.

واستكمل: “تركيزي الرئيسي هو إنهاء الموسم بشكل جيد قدر الإمكان، لدينا سباق كبير لإنهاء الموسم في المراكز الأربعة الأولى، كل ما أركز عليه هو المباريات العشر التالية”.

وكشف اللاعب البالغ من العمر 28 عامًا عن مدى استمتاعه بالحياة تحت قيادة كونتي، والفوائد التي يراها من العمل مع الإيطالي، وقال كين: “إنه مدرب رائع، ونحن نتعامل بشكل جيد حقًا، إنه يجلب الأفكار إلى اللعبة، كيف يريد مني والمهاجمين اللعب، لقد تعلمت جوانب مختلفة من اللعبة تحت قيادته”.

وأوضح: “أشعر بتحسن جسديًا بمعرفة أننا نتدرب ونعمل بجد كل يوم، أشعر بفائدة ذلك في ما أشعر به جسديًا وعقليًا بهذه الحدة، أنا في مكان جيد حقًا”.

واختتم: “أنا في حالة جيدة ولكني أشعر أنه يمكنني الاستمرار في التحسن، وأن أنطونيو سيواصل بالتأكيد دفعي إلى أقصى حدود، أنا أستمتع بوجود شخص مثل هذا كمدرب”.

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is said to have made a check on QPR centre-back Rob Dickie amid a potential move for him in the summer transfer window.

What’s the story?

With a number of Newcastle’s centre-backs facing an uncertain future at St James’ Park this summer due to their contracts expiring, it’s no surprise that Bruce appears to be targeting a new defender to bolster his ranks.

And, according to The Shields Gazette’s Liam Kennedy, the Magpies made checks on QPR’s Dickie during the season just gone, with the likes of Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer and Schalke’s Ozan Kabak – who was on loan at Liverpool – also name-checked as potential transfer targets.

Kennedy also added: “Uncertainty remains over the future of both Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez with both heading into the final days of their contract at United. A one-year extension clause will be activated with Schar, but the Switzerland international is far from certain to stay.”

As per Whoscored, with an average match rating of 7.17 in the Championship last season, Dickie was actually ranked as the seventh-best performing player in the entire division, and the third-best central defender behind only Michal Helik and Grant Hanley.

And, when you look at the 6 foot 4 titan’s key defensive numbers, it’s easy to see why.

He averages an impressive 1.3 tackles and 1.8 interceptions per game, with the latter stat actually putting him right at the top of the table when compared to the entire Newcastle squad.

Dickie also appears to be a genuine ball-playing centre-back too, making more than ten passes than the man at the top for the Magpies (57.6 passes per game), while only Fabian Schar can better his 3.1 successful long balls per game out of Newcastle’s defenders.

During his time with Oxford United, Dickie was heavily praised by manager Karl Robinson, who dubbed him as “unbelievable”, and said: “I know he’s quick, I know he’s talented, I know he’s great in the air, but I need to see what he’s like when he’s on the floor and see how he stands up. In the second half, I thought Rob Dickie was magnificent.”

Dickie appears to be ready to make the step up to the Premier League given how he has dominated the Championship, and his development into someone who can play out from the back should go down a treat at St James’ Park.

With Schar potentially exiting Tyneside this summer based on Kennedy’s claim, Dickie could be an ideal replacement for the Swiss centre-back.

Sunderland’s play-off rivals have announced the signing of an emergency loan goalkeeper ahead of Wednesday’s play-off semi-final clash.

What’s the latest?

According to a statement on their club website, Lincoln City have confirmed the signing of Stoke City’s goalkeeper Josef Bursik on an emergency loan deal.

The club revealed that they had asked the EFL for dispensation in order to complete the transfer as a result of the club’s own shot-stopper, Alex Palmer, suffering a head injury in training.

Finally, Lincoln confirmed that the England U21 international will be available for the play-off semi-final clash with Sunderland on Wednesday evening.

Sunderland fans will be livid

While the injury to Palmer is in no way the fault of Lincoln City, the timing of the transfer undoubtedly has the potential to leave a number of the Sunderland fans livid.

Indeed, while Palmer is a fine goalkeeper in his own right – having impressed over his 46 League One appearances for the Imps this season, keeping 19 clean sheets and averaging a SofaScore match rating of 6.94 – the arrival of a Championship-standard and England youth international in Bursik – who kept seven clean sheets over his 15 league appearances for Stoke this season – would appear to be an upgrade on the Lincoln shot-stopper.

As such, with a season-defining fixture ahead of both teams on Wednesday, it could be argued that Lincoln are now in a better position strength-wise as a direct result of Palmer’s injury.

This would appear to be the belief of a number of the Black Cats fanbase too, with one questioning how the signing of Bursik was allowed, while others simply stated their belief that the EFL sanctioning the move was an “absolute joke.”

However, with the deal being completed, there is now nothing more that Lee Johnson and his side can do regarding the issue, and must now find a way to defeat Lincoln City with their new shot-stopper between the sticks.
